Pennine relocate to new modern premises

After nearly 40 years, at the start of 2023 we have moved into new business premises expanding the production and office space by 50%. In addition to the larger space, the building has been fully customised to allow for a vastly improved operational flow and increased production output. The new premises were selected as they are less than 3km from the previous site allowing maximum retention of experienced production and sales staff and continuing to provide jobs in the local community.

 

Castle Link Chain reduces thermal shock

Pennine Industrial Equipment’s Castle Link Chain has been designed to reduce the contact area with the bottom of the glass, this causes less heat transfer and reduces thermal shock especially on the base of flat, thick bottomed glass containers used in the table glass industry and cosmetic industry.

We recently completed an order of a 350mm wide 10.2mm high version of this chain for a tableware customer. This customer also choose to use the Pennine HPL (Head Protector Link) which ensures maximum pin head protection from wear.

At Pennine Industrial Equipment we take pride in the quality of components that go into our Premium conveyor chains. This means that we use the latest digital measuring equipment that allows us to inspect our parts to a high standard.

Parts are inspected at multiple stages of our production process at our stamping facility Pennine Prostamp (www.prostamp.co.uk) in the West Midlands and inspected again at Pennine Industrial to ensure consistency.

Working From Home – 10/07/20

Our daily Microsoft Teams meeting.

Most of the Pennine Industrial’s Sales and Engineering staff are currently working from home where possible during COVID19.

We are pleased to confirm both of our manufacturing facilities are fully operational, our material stock levels are high and all orders are being shipped out on time.

Our main priority is keeping all our staff safe while offering our customers first class service and support during these difficult times.

PennLock – 26/06/20

Prior to the introduction of PennLock, the only way to disconnect and re-connect chains was to use clumsy and cumbersome tooling which was not only time consuming but ran the risk of damaging the chain. This is why we developed Pennlock, this optional extra uses a threaded pin and a locking nut, meaning that Pennine’s PennLock can drastically reduce the time taken to join the chain, while also making the whole process much easier.

Pennlock is an industry first rapid connecting system designed to reduce the time taken to join the chain while it is on the machine. Pennlock is suitable for any type of chain fitted with Thicker Type Head Protectors and offers a consistent chain running surface. Pennlock can be purchased as a complete kit including hex nut driver, 10 pins, 10 special nuts and 5 caps, spares are also available.

Staying Safe – 17/06/20



Pennine have carried out a comprehensive Covid-19 risk assessment and whilst we’ve been able to ensure work stations are 2m apart, we have manufactured screens to add extra protection for our staff.
We have also spent time painting 2m markers throughout the company to remind people of the importance of social distancing.
Whilst it is not business as usual all the staff at Pennine are taking as many precautions as possible to keep everyone safe and maintain production.

Stainless Steel – 08/06/20

Bottle checking and oxidisation marks have long been a problem in the glass container manufacturing industry, therefore Pennine Industrial Equipment developed our Stainless Steel Chains. This chain takes a threefold approach to tackle these problems:
  • A lower Thermal Diffusivity, meaning the chain, once hot, will be able to hold the heat better than a standard conveyor chain, to help reduce thermal shock
  • Lower Thermal Conductivity and higher thermal resistance means that the chain will pull the heat from the glass containers at a slower rate, therefore reducing the thermal shock on the containers
  • Oxidisation resistance of the material means that the chain resists rusting, therefore, reducing the marks left on containers, especially important for cosmetic containers.

This chain has shown success with large thick-bottomed containers such as Sparkling wine or Champagne bottles and is available in both single pin and 2-pin designs.

New Appointment – 22/07/2019

Pennine Industrial Equipment are pleased to announce that Will Law has recently joined the company as a Trainee International Sales Engineer.

Will has recently graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in Material Engineering and is looking forward to eventually doing business in and around Asia as well as the rest of the World.

Although Will is new to sales, he is looking to bring new insight to Pennine and hopes to build strong relationships with new and existing customers.
